this is what it became apparent on close inspection a very lovingly-constructed, to-scale, plywood replica of the space shuttle Columbia. you know, rotting in a field on a small island in the atlantic instead of burning up over Texas in february of 2003 like its much better thought-out and constructed cousin, you know, no big deal, a folly the size of a 737, with asphalt wings and boarded up doors and summer-tall grass growing rampant all 'round. Like its authentic namesake, this was someone's dream.

It's really important to dream, and all the more important to try to make those dreams come true, this is one of the most important ways amazing things happen in this world. But it's also really important to spend more time than both put together on bridging the gulf between.

we regret, a.k.a. next year, last decade

For the record, I took these photographs in 2009.the other businesses mentioned in the laminated notice had also met the same fate, or at least were not ongoing in any way I could tell. Also for the record, the folks responsible, or the folks now responsible when haled across a field let me in with my camera and aside from the admonition not to climb anything since there was no insurance, gave me, my camera and my companion carte-blanche.
