this is no fancy. An 85-1-4 USM on the lightness channel in lab colour after resizing in CS4, kit lens, nothing else. it just looks like this. maybe it's because the air is pretty thin two miles up the volcano, or it's the sun, or it's just plain...have you been there? in real life it looks exactly like this.
