Year eight of the Solstice Project came off without a hitch Sunday morning, that is unless you consider thick clouds to the east a complication. And I do, or I have on those occasional cloudy years, by now it has really become about the ritual and not the visual spectacle or the photographic results; I have as many Malahat solstice sunrise photos as I might need in a lifetime at this point.
The sky never turned crimson, even well into the rise there was not even a hint of orange anywhere between the horizons. Above I called it a ritual, but I think maybe this year it has become, or I only realized that it’s been all along, a meditation. I’m good with that.
