Name this light? Prolly not, some clues: Hyperradient Fresnel Lens, of the largest sort ever made. The lens itself is flawed, damaged by a vandal’s bullet years ago and not repairable; no machinery remain that can form a lens like this, and even if there did, no one really knows how anymore. The art has been lost. Okay, if you can’t google/wiki/ the name within a single search you don’t know how to work the interwebs. It’s a beautiful light, and not just a Fresnel but the King of Fresnels. A couple of more easily accessible Fresnel(freh-NELL, though it’s been officially anglicized with FREZ-nell being considered correct too these days)s next post or two or one after those, for now read up on the Fresnel and how it’s used today, like in the Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM AF zoom - and maybe the tail lights of your car. and canon is becoming like sigma with all the acronyms after the f-stops. oh, and it's the d.o. here that means it's a fresnel. night.
