it was tofino saturday, long beach being rather cool and misty while everywhere else along the way was clear into the mid-thirties (mid-nineties, for my american friends). it was a top-down/top-up drive in the yellow car, down for the freedom of the wind all around and up for air conditioning and protection from the sun. i'll also note that the road from port alberni to tofino is currently in a rather sad state of repair, almost lost a filling, that's how bumpy it was. the yellow car was made for fresh asphalt, when the road is all deep black and smooth, straight or as curvy as you can imagine it's an absolute thrill to drive. it becomes a burdensome handful however when the pavement gets all dodgy and bumpy and full of holes and rather haphazard patches, learned that a few years ago when we went to port renfrew and got passed by, among every other car we encountered, a ford festiva. geez.
