christmas this year was wonderful, and that's something for someone like me to say, a fellow who has for many years harboured a distinct dislike for the holiday season. maybe i'm finally growing up.

today's picture isn't the shot i ventured to a very stormy pacific for this afternoon, in fact it's the very first one of about 200 i popped over the space of the 10 minutes it took me to become frozen to the bone. the other 199 or so, well i liked the very last shot i took a lot too but there was seawater on the front of the lens at exacly the place where the shot really sang for me, the ones in-between all show that i was freezing and impatient and just wasn't taking the time to compose just right. too bad, the sea was violent and the light was quite fanstastic, today's featured picture is a reminder to me that if i'd just dressed a bit more warmly and spent more time thinking and seeing instead of just blasting away in burst mode i could well have come home with something famous. but i can also forgive myself a little, i've been up since 3:45 this morning.
