okay so it's late one sunday
afternoon and you're at the computer looking at a day's less than awesome photo
adventuring when suddenly there's a noise outside and it means you get make the
most of the most interesting thing to happen to me today.
but
first off, lawn darts? weren't those made illegal like 20 years ago?
and there was a 911 call, and there were perpetrators, and by gosh they got 'em!
so, to recap: lawn darts: 1. juvenile delinquents: 2, led away in cuffs and stuffed
into separate cars about three blocks from here. police cars: 3. yellow convertible:
$2000-2500 damage. i mean, it made a hole in the top you could pass a penny through
and there's about 10 pounds of shattered safety glass inside the car. number of
passers by who said aloud, "lawn darts? weren't those made illegal like 20
years ago?": i lost count at 13. one witness even asked if he could have the lawn
dart after, but no dice - it's turned state's witness in its new home in a ziplock
evidence bag.

a
terrible disaster up close, such a shame. and check out that bokeh, is that gorgeous
or what? cavalier attitude, maybe, but i've already phoned in the claim with ing
direct and the biggest dispute was "how many rental cars will you be needing,
sir?"

was in aperture priority)
so there were arrests,
but chances are the charges won't stick as it would seem it was their third friend,
who's name they never got around to asking, who tossed the dart that very last
time it ever flew. gotta give it to the hoodlums, they know how the system works,
even refused to speak further without lawyers.

lousy shot but you get the idea.
four hours after
and got a call from the investigating officer. there was, as some witnesses reported,
a third youth involved, and he's been identified as the actual dart chucker and
all parents have been notified. and while the third mystery individual did have
some history with the police, the long and the short of it is that by all impressions
they're from caring homes, and the families have said they'll pony up any expenses
that might not be covered by insurance.
at this point,
all tasks related to this incident are finished - the claim is filed, the yellow
car is off at the dealership awaiting a new top and new rear glass and everything
else has settled nicely back to normal on this beautiful spring afternoon.
