wow, hot in here, officially 30 degrees outside. the last two days
have been summer's triumphant arrival.
the rent's up again, it's been every year now for the past four i've
received a notice of increase effective september near the end of
may. it's 15 dollars again, bringing the cumulative increase to 60
since i moved here, you know, back when i brought in 30k more a year.
for those running out of fingers and toes, it now costs $7740 a year
for the cats and i to call this place home, up from $7000 five years
ago.
years back, the landlord had to give some scant justification for
the increase, but with the changes to the residential tenancy act
under the liberal government they don't even have to fake it. this
year's form has the added clause: A tenant may not apply for arbitration
to dispute an rent increase that complies with part 3 of the RTA.
while i've enjoyed the demise of photo radar and the decrease in
personal tax under our current government, changes they've made to
the residential tenancy act and the employment act, both heavily in
favour of landlords and employers respectively, have fucked me over
a number of times now. and that's really all i have to say; this blog
isn't a place where i like to get especially political. if you want
that, feed me beer and then raise the topic.

just a blurb for today, i've been working from home all day and now
it's time for coronas on the beach. don't forget to take along your
camera for panoramas (haven't forgotten about that yet, have you?),
and remember, you don't have to be home until the streetlights come
on.
