it's day five of 18 in a row workwise, most at least eight hours
and a couple a little over 15. go me!
i managed to fill most of yesterday with more sleep than i've had
in months, though it wasn't my plan at all - i had tonnes to get done
in the afternoon and i accomplished almost none of it. that's going
to make today a bit busier, but i think it'll work out in the end;
i really needed all that sleep.
i decided a few days ago to try to integrate breakfast back into
my daily routine. i wasn't looking for elaborate, so i thought i'd
try cereal. the cereal aisle at the supermarket is daunting, there
were hundreds of different shapes, colours and flavours competing
for my cereal dollar, and in the last probably twenty years since
i last spooned a bowl, i've forgotten what i like, if i ever liked
any at all. all i knew is that i didn't want anything too heavy or
complicated.
the front of a cereal package is one of the larger pieces of marketing
real estate in the supermarket, there's a lot of space on each box
for manufacturers to try to get the message across. i decided to buy
whatever most appealed from that standpoint, with the exception of
anything overly fruity or which contained marshmallows or anything
gross. and yes, the marketing got me.
what better way to choose a product than by its cd rom? yup, i went
for the prize in the package. general mills is giving away cd rom
games in its products, different titles randomly scattered across
its brands, each visible through a window on the front. i elected
to get the home version of jeopardy, which landed me a great big box
of nesquick. for those not up on their saturday morning cartoon commercials,
it's chocolate blobs made from cornflower, with all sorts of vitamins
from unknown sources added in for good measure. today was the big
day, i ingested some. it's not horrible, i'm going to try to ingest
some again tomorrow morning. the cd rom of jeopardy, on the other
hand, is pretty awesome, very well done, the questions are plenty
hard and i get to insult the host over and over in my best sean connery
voice:what, are ye some kinda pansy, trebek? i'll take the penis
mightier for $200.
just a reminder here to go see craig spinning for three hours at
hush tomorrow (tuesday) night, should be hella great.
and now it's out the door for me, i'm spending the week working somewhere
else. i'm thinking it's going to be challenging and fun, i just wish
it wasn't two busses away. have a great day, and i'll get to the photo
thing from the comments in the last post going really soon, as soon
as i can come up for air.
